Can you put a baby bird in a bird bath?
February 8th, 2009
My bird is covered in food and I’ve tried cleaning it with a damp washcloth but it isn’t doing any good.
I need to know if it can be put in the birdbath and I also need to know for how long I need to let it stay in water.
Can I get bird flu from cleaning my backyard bird bath?
February 4th, 2009
Rick U asked:
Can I get bird flu (or possibly anything else) by cleaning my backyard bird feeders or bird bath? I typically dump the water in the bird bath once a week and brush it clean with hot water before filling it. I live in the great-lakes area (north of Lake Erie) and I don’t know if “bird flu” is, or ever has been in this area yet.

Do you have any ideas for a “Bird Bath” birthday party theme?
January 28th, 2009
bullerdickfamily asked:
I am having a “Bird Bath” birthday party for my daughter’s second birthday. We are having a pool party and I didn’t want to do the typical under the sea theme and she LOVES birds! I also want it to be very eco-friendly. I am looking for some fun ideas that you all may have that I can incorporate into my theme. Most guests will be under the age of 5.
Thanks in advance!

How do you keep mosquitoes from breeding in a garden bird bath?
January 27th, 2009
Sonja C asked:
I have three cement bird baths around my house. The birds make substantial use of them. When rain doesn’t supply the water for them, I do. But someone told me mosquitoes are breeding in these things and I shouldn’t use them. Is this true?

It occurs to me that nature prevents bird from covering themselves with water in sub-freezing temps, by making most available water solid and unusable.
